Anne Boleyn
Is it just me, or is JKR suddenly becoming a bit of a bitch? I'm a H/HR shipper and a H/L shipper-I've hated Ginny since CoS but canon doesn't bother me too much. I'm irritated but I shrug my shoulders. Hey, that's what fan fiction is. Look at the E/C stories in the Phantom fandom.

But Emerson's comment on the "delusional" Harry/Hermione shippers and JKR not even trying to smooth it over just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. To me, her writing in HBP is less then stellar, and I feel disappointed and cheated. It seems like she's running out of ideas. While I give her credit, I've lost respect for her. Even if you know some shippers's OTP won't sail, at least say so in a RESPECTFUL and TACTFUL manner. After all, we're responsible for the money that YOU'RE making.

Found a good quote from a H/H message board:
Telling us to go back and re-read is JKR's greatest insult. She's implying that we can't read, that we can't interpret anything, and that we are dreaming up delusions from our itty-bitty brains.

Harmonians have probably read the books more than anyone. More than JKR herself, definitely. We have intricately researched essays written after hours of careful analysis and insight...essays that JKR dismissed without a thought. She has hurt so many people by insulting their intelligence and mocking them for READING HER BOOKS! What kind of author does that? And to have the nerve to tell us to RE-READ...that just goes too far.

Sure, we'll read the books again, Jo. And we'll just continue to see how perfect Harry and Hermione would have been.

Personally, I feel all the attention and the media gave her one hell of an ego trip. I'm still a fan of HP and will love the series, but I don't know if I'll be a die hard fan of whatever she writes next.

I think she's in too over her head-the media is trying to make her out to be this incredible goddess-like writer, we expect too much out of her writing abilities.

Another good quote: Now I think she is in over her head and HBP shows it. Most of us, the adults who fell in love with the series, and the young adults who grew up with Harry Potter, were expecting more... We were expecting a book with real guts, good plots, character development, romance.. What we got was little more than a filled out outline. With fame, fortune, interviews, movie contracts, marketing, yes, having a baby too... When does the woman write? So I guess it is expected that she fall back to the old formula...

I also think Jo is well aware that the emperess is without clothes in this time around. Thus the press release, where she states and I paraphrase here,"The Halfblood Prince" is may favorite book, though some I am sure won't like it.." Where I come from that is called covering your behind.. In other words she knows it isn't up to her usual standards, but hopes we the readers won't notice.. And those of us that do? Well, that infamous interview comes directly out of that in my humble opinion.

In conclusion, Harry Potter has grown to be something that JKR never meant it to be.. I am afraid that she has neither the time, desire or perhaps the skill to make the last of the books what we want it to be.. It will be years before all of this plays out amoung the critics more learned than I am.. It's just a gut feeling I have

By the way, all quotes were from members of the message board "Portkey"

Call me a bonkers shipper if you want, or "not a true Harry Potter fan". I don't care.

*still a die-hard Tolkienite and acknowledges that Tolkien is the Godfather of All Fantasy and could JKR's ass in writing any time, any day*

Hey, I was wondering where you get your awesome POTO icons and what's the site for the POTO fandom you were talking about?

Hi Ashley!
I make my own icons. ^_^ God bless Paint Shop Pro is all *I* can say, haha.

As for the PoTO fandom, I was talking about it in general. As in we all know Raoul and Christine end up together, but there are SO many fics on fanfiction.net where Christine returns to Erik. I was comparing them to Harry/Hermione shippers-it may not be entirely canon for them to be together, but people still ship them anyway.

Some good sites are fanfiction.net, www.phantomfans.net, www.gerardbutler.net, and multiple LJ communities.
